Prosthetic Eyes

A prosthetic eye is an artificial eye used to help persons who have lost an eye due to injury or disease improve the quality of their facial appearance. A “fake eye” or “artificial eye” is the prevalent term for it. Vision cannot be restored with a prosthetic eye. A person will have no vision in that eye once the normal eye is removed and a prosthetic eye is implanted. However, most people choose to use a prosthetic eye instead of an eye patch or bandage since it improves the appearance of the afflicted eye socket.
